Heart Select Screening - $100

Recommended for: Men age 35 & up; Women age 55 & up, all post-menopausal women

  • CT scan of the heart

This screening, valued at $1,500, detects calcium deposits in coronary arteries. The presence of calcium deposits correlates directly to coronary plaque and risk of coronary disease.
No preparation is required for this test. Please avoid wearing necklaces and shirts with metal buttons or snaps. Ladies should avoid wearing underwire bras. Radiation is involved in this screening. If you could be pregnant, this test is not recommended. People with coronary artery stents, pacemakers, or metal in the left side of the chest from previous surgery are excluded from this screening.

The Heart Select Screening is offered by appointment Wednesdays and Thursdays at Baptist Medical Center.

Your Heart Select Screening

A radiologic technologist will perform the CT scan. The test will take about 30 minutes from the time you arrive. When you are finished, the technologist will hand off your scan to cardiologists on staff at Baptist to evaluate. You will receive your results in the mail. At your request, results will also be forwarded to your physician.
The Heart Select Screening is performed in Outpatient Cardiovascular Diagnostics in the Colonnades medical office building, located at 501 Marshall Street, Suite 100. Parking is available in the Colonnades parking lot. Please check in at the front desk in Suite 100, and be prepared to pay $100 by cash, check or credit card.
