The 13th Annual Cyclists Curing Cancer Century Ride* is scheduled for 7:30 AM September 20, 2014. The Ride promises to be bigger and better than ever before with proceeds, once again, benefitting the Serenity Garden at Hederman Cancer Center.
The Century Ride will start and finish at the Baptist Healthplex in Clinton, Mississippi. Special Ride features will include multiple distance options stretching along the beautiful and historic Natchez Trace with themed rest stops throughout the journey. Good food and fellowship will await you at the finish line complete with live music, door prizes, and more.
Please note: All riders are required to wear a helmet. Any riders remaining on the course after 3:00 PM will be picked up.
Early registration and packet pick-up will be held Friday, September 19, from 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM at the Hederman Cancer Center (Baptist Medical Center) on North State Street. Riders pre-registered may pick up registration packets at this time. Registration and packet pick-up will also be available at the Baptist Healthplex on Saturday morning prior to the ride.
Riders also have the opportunity to ride in honor or in memory of someone who has battled cancer. For a $10 donation, your honoree’s name will be displayed on your shirt. You may complete the additional donation portion of the registration form or donate the day of the ride.
This year we celebrate the memory of longtime Baptist administrator, Jerry Cotton, former President of Baptist Medical Center, who passed away of cancer in September of 2013. Jerry was a special friend and colleague to so many of us, and those who knew him well will appreciate how fitting it will be to wrap up our 2014 Ride with a plate of barbecue!
Your participation will help to sustain the Serenity Garden and provide cancer patients and their families with a peaceful refuge in a well-kept environment. Considering the time demands, anxiety, and stress related to cancer treatment, the importance of this tranquil amenity cannot be overemphasized. Cancer survivor Mary Jane Finney expresses her appreciation for the Serenity Garden...” If you are a cancer patient feeling overwhelmed and anxious, or a family member spending long hours by the side of a relative, sometimes escaping to a quiet, serene place, surrounded by lush green plants and the soothing sound of a waterfall, can give you the strength you need to keep going. The Serenity Garden is such a refuge where patients, like me, can pray, reflect and find comfort in the midst of a trial.”
The registration fee is $50 through Friday, September 5. Beginning Saturday, September 6, registration is $55. Registration by August 22 is required to guarantee a moisture wicking t-shirt for 2014.
Cyclists Curing Cancer Century Ride is made possible in part through the generous support of a number of sponsors. See the full list in the photo gallery on this page.
