Cervical, Ovarian and Other Gyn Cancers Treatment

Our Physicians

Board certified gynecologic oncologists, physicians specializing in gynecologic cancers, are included on the medical staff at Baptist Medical Center. Physicians in this subspecialty are first board certified as Ob/Gyns, and then further certified as gynecologic oncologists. According to the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, a gynecologic oncologist is a board certified women's cancer specialist who has received intensive medical training in the study and treatment of malignancies arising in the female reproductive tract - ovary, endometrium, cervix, vulva and vagina. They are certified with special competence in gynecologic oncology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG).

At Baptist, some surgical procedures used to treat certain gynecologic cancers may be done using minimally invasive techniques that create smaller incisions and allow for less pain and faster recovery. Some of these may be performed using the da Vinci Robot.
