Group Activities
The following group activities have been planned.  A small fee applies to most and registration is required.  An activity registration form will be mailed after conference registrations are received.

The White House.  Based on availability, a tour of the White House is planned for spouses/guests.  The tour will begin across the street from The White House at The Visitors Center where one will view the six permanent White House exhibits.  The actual White House Tour will take guests through many of the rooms on the main level of the White House and will include the East Room, State Dining Room and Diplomatic Reception Rooms.

Golf.  Two golf outings are planned. On Thursday golfers will play at Lake Presidential, one of the area’s newest courses.  Lake Presidential is a development of Landmark Land Company, Inc. which over the past 35 years has created some of the finest golf courses, including Kiawah Island and Doonbeg in Ireland.  On Saturday, golfers will play at Stonewall Golf Club, touted by national and regional publications as one of the best upscale public courses.  Lake Manassas and the Bull Run Mountains provide a stunning backdrop to this challenging golf experience.

The Smithsonian Shuttle.  A private shuttle will take guests from the Ritz Carlton to the Smithsonian Museums that line the National Mall.  During the short shuttle ride, a professional tour guide will provide an overview of the museums and their current exhibits.  Attendees will then have the opportunity to explore the museums of their choice at their leisure.

Hillwood Museum and Gardens.  Hillwood was the former estate of Marjorie Merriweather Post (1887 – 1973), heir to the Post cereal fortune.  Mrs. Post was known as one of America’s first businesswomen, an art collector, philanthropist and socialite.   Guests will browse the gardens which were refurbished by Perry Wheeler, the designer for the White House Rose Gardens, tour the opulent home of Marjorie Merriweather Post and view a short film about the mansion which was built in 1926.  This is a spectacular tour that spouses and guests will not want to miss.

Mount Vernon.  See Mount Vernon by bike or bus.  Bikers will ride approximately 15 miles to Virginia’s 18th Century Mount Vernon – home of the Nation’s first President George Washington.  Bikers will picnic on the grounds before meeting spouses/guests arriving by bus to tour Mount Vernon.

Bus riders will travel to Gadsby’s Tavern for lunch, viewing several of George Washington’s regular stops along the way.  Gadsby’s Tavern was a popular Tavern visited by George Washington and the site of his last birthday celebration.  Following lunch, the group will join the bikers for a tour of Mount Vernon.
