Michael Williamson, Staff Chaplain

A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Chaplain Michael Williamson has served with Baptist's Pastoral Care Department for several years. He completed eight units of Clinical Pastoral Education (seven at the Sonny Montgomery VA Hospital in Jackson, and one through the McFarland Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (political science/journalism) from Baylor University with extensive study in history and English. In addition, he finished a Master of Theological Studies degree at Brite Divinity School of Texas Christian University and was awarded a Master of Business Administration degree from Mississippi College. Moreover, he has performed chaplaincy duties in crisis intervention (Fort Worth, Texas), cross-cultural and urban (Hollywood Urban Project in Los Angeles, California), and prison ministry (Tuscaloosa, Alabama) settings. He is a Board Certified Chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains and a candidate for certification with the American Association of Pastoral Counselors.

At Baptist, Williamson is responsible for ministry on several units including Oncology, Orthopedics/Neurology and Cardiology. Williamson is a member of the Mississippi Baptist Chaplains' Association and the Mississippi Chaplains’ Association. He and his wife, Amy (an instructor of Spanish Language and Literature at Mississippi College) are active members of Northside Baptist Church in Clinton. They have a daughter, Rosemary.
