Thank you for choosing Mississippi Baptist Medical Center for your healthcare needs. In order to continue to serve you with the highest quality medical services at a reasonable cost, we must remain financially viable. To do this we must ask for your help in several important areas.

Baptist will file a claim with your insurance company within five days after your discharge or date of service. We must have complete and accurate information that only you can supply. Please bring a current copy of your insurance card(s) with you each time you come for services. If you have changed insurance plans since the last time you were here, please inform the representative who takes your admitting information.

Please be prepared to pay deductible or coinsurance obligations when you receive your services. If you do not pay, you will receive a statement within 45 days. This statement will show the total balance of your account. If your insurance has not paid, it will show a total that includes the insurance portion. You are expected to pay the deductible and coinsurance amounts that are your responsibility.

We will file a claim for any remaining balance with your secondary insurance policy once we have received the payment from your primary insurance carrier.

Many insurance companies require you to request a pre-certification/authorization before you receive certain services. You may need to pre-certify the doctor's service as well as the service provided by Baptist. We encourage you to contact your insurance company before you receive any services to make sure that BOTH the doctor and hospital services are properly authorized. If the service was not authorized and your insurance company denies payment, you will be responsible for that amount.

If you do not have any insurance and request services, we require that you pay a deposit at the time of admission or by discharge for inpatient stays. Deposits will be as follows: outpatient testing $300, and outpatient surgery at least 25% of the estimated charges. For inpatient, non-emergency services, we require a minimum deposit of $1,500.00. All uninsured Outpatient Oncology patients will be required to give a deposit of $1,000 before we will begin treatment on a new patient and will also be required to set up a payment plan with the Financial Counselor for the remaining balance. Please be prepared to pay these amounts when you register.

If you cannot pay your bill, we ask that you contact the Business Office so that we may assist in determining whether you qualify for any of the financial assistance programs we have available. You may contact the Business Office by calling 601-968-1344 or toll free 888-598-2405, any time between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may also e-mail us at admit@mbhs.org.

Baptist utilizes a third party service for account balances due from the patient. You will receive a monthly bill from them for amounts determined to be patient responsibility.

In addition to receiving a bill from Baptist, you will receive separate bills for any professional services rendered, such as the Radiologist who interprets your xrays, the Anesthesiologist assisting during surgery, and the Pathologist who interprets laboratory tests. Other physicians who will bill separately from Baptist are the Emergency Room physicians and the Neonatologists who care for newborns.

Although Baptist may be in your insurance network, the physician may not be. You are responsible for any out-of-network penalties that may be applied.
