Perseverance Helen Richburg
Nominated by her friend, Sadie Jones Sadie says, “Helen's strong faith and determination have made her the strongest woman I know and I am blessed every time I see her. Mental and physical perseverance are her way of life. From 1979 to 1989 Helen had four breast biopsies with the fourth one being positive requiring Helen to have surgery followed by radiation. This was extremely difficult for Helen, as she has lost three sisters to breast cancer and her mother died of ovarian cancer. In spite of all of these physical difficulties Helen has persevered and was able to be a great mother for two small sons and to be a caregiver for many others. When one of her sisters died, her nephew came to live with her and she loved and treated him just like he was her own son. When her husband's parents were killed Helen was quick to open her home to her husband's younger brother and sister. Helen and her husband have custody of their two grandsons. Now instead of an empty nest and free time for themselves, they are the parents to two precious little boys. Helen takes these little boys to ballgames, church, the circus, and all the things that little boys need and love.” |
