Preadmission Benefits

"What does my insurance policy cover?"

"How will I learn all I need to know about caring for my baby?"

"How can I breastfeed my baby and go back to work?"

For new mothers, as well as mothers with older children at home, the time surrounding your baby's birth is filled with questions and uncertainties.

Baptist's preadmission program is conveniently located in the Preadmission Department in the lower level of Baptist for Women. It provides expectant families with the opportunity to become familiar with Birthplace services and routines and the variety of educational options available. This program saves time and streamlines the admission process when you arrive to have your baby. During this process, the OB admission specialist will provide you with an estimate of the hospital charge.

By taking advantage of this program and participating in the educational programs, you'll be more informed and confident during labor and delivery. And by learning about infant care, CPR, and other issues concerning your baby's health prior to your baby's birth, you'll feel less rushed and overwhelmed when the baby arrives. Your time in the hospital can be spent resting and getting to know your baby, not with last minute instructions in child care.

A Simple Process
Enrolling in the pre-admission program is simple. You should enroll by your 27th week, but the sooner you enroll, the better. Just follow these steps:

  1. Complete The Birthplace pre-admission application available in your physician's office or click here to apply online.
  2. Mail or fax (to 601-968-4084) your completed written application along with a photocopy of both sides of your insurance card and identification. A return envelope is provided with the written application. If you complete and submit the online form, it is not necessary to mail or fax any other information. However, the OB specialist will need to make a copy of your insurance card and identification when you come in for your preadmission appointment.
  3. Call the Baptist Health Line at 601-948-6262 or 1-800-948-6262 to schedule your preadmission appointment.
  4. Come for your preadmission appointment. Be sure to bring your insurance card and identification with you.

Completing this process by the 27th week of your pregnancy entitles you to:

  • preferred registration in child birth classes
  • complimentary membership in Natal Fit water aerobics
  • after delivery, complimentary three-month membership to the Baptist Healthplex.

To schedule an appointment with an OB Admission Specialist, call 601-948-6262, or 1-800-948-6262.
