He earned his medical degree at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine where he also completed his pediatric internship and residency. While at the University of Mississippi, he was awarded the Chris Allenburger Memorial Award. He then completed his fellowship in neonatology at Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association and the National Perinatal Association.
