New Direction®
New Direction® provides a medically-supervised, safe and effective weight loss program for women who need to lose more than forty pounds, and men who need to lose more than fifty pounds. The program combines nutrition education, behavior modification, exercise instruction and group support for a comprehensive approach to weight loss.

The Nutrition Center's professionally trained registered dietitians, licensed behavioral counselors and exercise specialists work with physicians and other health care professionals to monitor participants' health and effect changes that produce significant weight loss. This program is for adults over 18, and requires a medical and psychological examination.

Getting Started - A Total Assessment
The first step in The Nutrition Center's New Direction ® program is a meeting with one of our counselors, who will review eating patterns and lifestyle habits affecting your weight. A registered dietitian will conduct a personal diet and nutrition history.

Once your lifestyle and eating patterns have been evaluated, you'll receive a complete blood test and an EKG to monitor your heart. Finally, you'll see our physician, who will provide a complete history and physical during your thorough medical exam.

Making Changes, Losing Weight
After your assessment, you'll begin medically-supervised weight reduction. You'll use New Direction ® Nutritional Products as your sole source for complete nutrition, generating rapid, safe weight loss. During the entire reduction period, a physician and nurse will carefully monitor your health to determine its effect on your body.

You'll also benefit from weekly classes where you'll learn about topics such as nutrition, exercise and effective weight management techniques, and gain support from interacting with other participants who are sharing your experiences.

Eating for Your New Lifestyle
After you've reached your desired weight, you'll begin learning how to maintain your weight eating regular foods. You'll gradually eat less of the New Direction ® products, and more nutritionally-balanced complete meals. Your condition will continue to be monitored by a physician and a nurse, and you'll receive additional assistance during weekly education and support sessions.

A Lifetime of Change, One Day at a Time
Choosing a new lifestyle—a New Direction®—takes time. New patterns of eating, thinking and behavior are not learned overnight. That's why at The Nutrition Center, we offer participants a full year of education and support sessions once you've begun eating regular meals. We'll help you fine-tune your new eating, exercising and lifestyle habits to make sure you're settled into the lifestyle you've earned. :: back to top

OUTLook®
For individuals seeking practical assistance with weight reduction, The Nutrition Center offers a structured weight management program—OUTLook®—which combines nutrition education, behavior modification and exercise instruction. Participants also benefit from OUTLook meal replacement beverages or bars which can strengthen their weight reduction efforts. The program is staffed by professionally trained registered dietitians, licensed behavioral counselors and exercise specialists. Participants are required to obtain a medical release from their physicians.

How the Program Works
• Assessment
You'll begin the OUTLook program with an assessment of your current nutritional, behavioral and exercise habits. By examining the patterns that affect your weight, professionals at The Nutrition Center can develop a plan to help you reach your desired weight.

• Reduction
After your assessment, you'll receive a customized meal plan that takes into consideration your lifestyle and weight goals. Your meal plan will include OUTLook meal replacement beverages or bars, along with nutritionally sound menus for weight reduction.

During the reduction phase of the program, you'll gain additional support through regular attendance at either group sessions or individual appointments at The Nutrition Center. During these meetings, discussions about nutrition, exercise, and behavior will give you practical insight on ways you can successfully manage your weight.

• Keeping the Weight From Coming Back
The Nutrition Center's OUTLook program offers participants more than just a weight loss program---we'll help you learn how to keep the pounds from coming back. After you've achieved your desired weight, a registered dietitian will consult with you on ways you can develop meal patterns to maintain your weight. You'll also benefit from continued group support. If you choose, you may continue using meal replacement items to help you control your weight.

Two Ways to Make the Program Work For You
One of the most important features of the OUTLook program at The Nutrition Center is the information and support participants gain from the counseling program. For some people, group sessions provide an encouraging, supportive environment as they interact with others sharing their experiences. Others are less comfortable in group settings, and prefer individualized, private attention. And for some people, individual appointments provide a workable solution when a busy schedule makes it difficult to attend group sessions.

Both options offer the same benefits, and you can choose the setting best suited to your needs. :: back to top
