Sensa is a powder you shake on your food prior to eating. It claims to make you feel full faster which leads you to eat less. There are no clinical studies to support Sensa. According to livestrong.com, a partner of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, there is a lack of scientific evidence supporting Sensa’s claims.

Adipx Phentermine (Adipx P) is a prescribed appetite suppressant that can be used for less than 12 weeks. It can become addictive and its effectiveness decreases over time. It has numerous potential side effects, including increased blood pressure and heart rate. Those with high blood pressure, anxiety and heart disease should not use it. According to the National Library of Medicine, it may also cause drowsiness.

HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is a hormone produced during pregnancy by the cells that form the placenta. The HCG-diet combines daily injections with a 500-calorie diet. Potential side effects include headache, mood swings, depression, blood clots, confusion and dizziness. According to the FDA, HCG has not been demonstrated to be effective in the treatment of obesity.

Cylaris is a vitamin-based supplement taken orally combined with six small meals per day. Cylaris contains large amount of vitamins and caffeine, which can produce a sick feeling. People who are sensitive to caffeine may experience difficulty sleeping. According to webmd.com, there is insufficient evidence to support the use of this type of supplement for weight lost.
