W. Stewart Horsley, MD
Dr. Horsley graduated valedictorian from the University of Alabama and subsequently completed medical school with honors at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed an internship and residency in general surgery at Emory University in Atlanta. During his training, he spent a year working as a cardiothoracic research Fellow at the Carlisle Fraser Heart Center in Atlanta. Dr. Horsley's research focused on myocardial protection and heart valve disease, especially relating to bioprosthetic heart valve preservation. He has contributed to several publications and has presented at major meetings, including the Society of Thoracic Surgeon,s and most recently the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association. He completed a fellowship and residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Emory and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. Dr. Horsley has a special interest in percutaneous interventions and transcatheter technology, including peripheral vascular procedures, aneurysm repair, and transcatheter valve surgery. |
