Respiratory Care

Respiratory Care Services are provided to patients with disorders of the cardiopulmonary system and include diagnostic testing, therapeutic intervention, and comprehensive monitoring. Among the services performed by Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCPs) are neurodiagnostics testing, sleep disorders testing and bronchoscopy.

Respiratory Therapists provide advanced therapeutic functions, such as advanced airway management, ventilator management, and disease education. They also apply their talents and skills, as part of a dedicated team, to many clinical areas including the Emergency Department, Labor and Delivery, and the Intensive Care Units.

When you come to Baptist, you can be assured of the highest standards and quality. Our team of skilled professionals stand ready to help you, and your physician, treat your condition. Whether it be neurologic, pulmonary, or sleep related, we can help. The department is staffed primarily by Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) and Registered Nurses (RN), the highest professional levels within our field. Several therapists also hold critical care specialty credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), such as the Neonatal / Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential, as well as the prestigious Asthma Educator Credential (AE-C) from the National Asthma Education Credential Board (NAECB). Our Sleep Diagnostics Lab and Neurodiagnostics / Pulmonary Function Lab therapists hold specialized credentials for these highly skilled areas, such as the Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT), and the Certified or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT, RPFT) credential from the NBRC. Our team is proud to have received three consecutive certificates of quality care from the American Association of Respiratory Care.
