Low Fiber/Low Residue Diet

Purpose/Indications:
To aid in the management of Imflammatory Bowel Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn's Disease and Diverticulitis.

General Guidelines:

  • Fiber is the undigestible part of most fruits, vegetables and whole grain breads and cereals.
  • Limit the use of the following ingredients and foods in meals, recipes, or snacks:
    Breads and cereals made with whole grains or bran
    Raw fruits and vegetables
    Dried beans, peas and lentils
    Nuts and seeds
    Coconut
    Popcorn
    Dried fruit
  • Choose the following instead:
    Refined beans and cereals
    Canned or cooked fruits and vegetables
