Low Fat/Low Cholesterol Diet
General Guidelines:
-
Eat a variety of foods including fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Limit intake of fat and cholesterol , especially saturated fat. (Saturated fats are generally the fats from animal products.)

Bake, broil, boil, roast or grill meats rather than fry or saute.

Choose
Lean meats - round, sirloin, chuck, loin
Poultry without skin
Fish/shellfish
Lean luncheon meats
Low-fat cheese/fat-free milk
-
Avoid
Fatty meats - ribs, t-bone, sausage, bacon
Fried foods
Processed meats
Regular cheeses/whole milk

Limit egg yolks to 4 per week

Incorporate soy into diet (soy nuts, soy milk, soy cheese)
