Diabetes

Purpose:
To aid in controlling blood glucose levels and help prevent long-term complications.

General Guidelines:

  • Eat meals and snacks at the same time each day.
  • Do not skip meals.
  • Balance your diet with a variety of foods from all the major food groups: meat, dairy, breads & cereals, fruits & vegetables.
  • Check your blood glucose levels at appropriate times (if applicable).
  • Limit your intake of:
    Sugar - white, brown, etc.
    Candy
    Soft drinks - sweetened with sugar, corn syrup, etc.
    Desserts and pastries
    Jelly, honey, syrup
    Alcohol
