En casos raros, la labor pretérmino se debe a tejido conectivo débil en el cérvix que permite que éste se abra demasiado temprano. Una opción para tratar este tejido débil es el cerclaje cervical. En este procedimiento, su médico cose una banda de hilo fuerte alrededor de su cérvix para ayudar a mantenerlo cerrado. Usted recibirá anestesia para adormecer el área o para hacerla dormir durante este procedimiento. La banda se retira a las 37-38 semanas de embarazo para permitir el alumbramiento normal.
