Baptist Pays Tribute to Former Executive Director Paul J Pryor

Baptist Medical Center will hold a memorial service for its former administrator, Paul J. Pryor, today at 2:00 pm in the Private Dining Rooms. Mr. Pryor served as the executive director of Baptist from 1955 until his retirement in 1988. He was born in 1918 and went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 10, 2010.

Under his direction at Baptist, he administered the construction of the Medical Arts Building, the Gilfoy School of Nursing, and the Simmons Annex. His vision helped construct what is the present location of Baptist Medical Center, which was completed in 1976.

Through his tenure at Baptist, he guided the medical center to implement a chemical dependency cneter, a radiation therapy center for treatment of cancer, and a cardiology department. He was a fellow in the College of Hospital Administrators, served as President of the Mississippi Hospital Association and served his profession well as aofficer and board member of numerous hospital associations, as well as a long term Board Member and Board Member Emeritus of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi.
