Redevelopment of a Portion of Belhaven Neighborhood Down to Three Possible Master Developers

Jackson, MS, April 2, 2008– Baptist issued a request for statements of interest and qualifications from prospective real estate development organizations in December 2007 to redevelop an area in the historic Belhaven neighborhood. Seven firms responded. After careful review, Baptist along with Zimmer Real Estate Services and assessment by Belhaven Neighborhood Foundation selected three developers.

The Belz Enterprises, headquartered in Memphis, Townsend Capital, LLC headquartered in Baltimore, MD and the Jackson development team of Mattiace Properties, Peters Real Estate and Ben Walker were selected. The Request for Proposal for each of these developers is due May 16, 2008 in order to be selected as the master developer.

The property is in the middle of six blocks directly east of Baptist Health Systems, sandwiched between Fortification and Poplar and North State and Jefferson streets. It covers approximately 15 acres. Baptist owns the majority of this property and plans to redevelop approximately 8 acres.
