Jackson, Miss. – August 22, 2006 – Baptist Medical Center will host a talk by Will Cross titled “Conquering Mountains, Reaching Poles and Managing Diabetes” on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. in the Colonnades Medical Office Building, 5th floor Conference Room.

Cross, who has Type 1 Diabetes, became the first American with diabetes to summit Mount Everest on May 23, 2006, the highest point on earth on which a human can walk without supplemental oxygen. With this achievement, Cross, a 39-year-old father of six from Pittsburgh became the first in the world with diabetes to climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents and trek to the North and South Poles, a multi-year odyssey known as the NovoLog® Peaks and Poles Challenge. He reached the summit at approximately 5:10 a.m. local time.

NovoLog®, an insulin aspart [rDNA origin] injection, sponsors this talk. Pre-register by calling the Baptist Health Line at 1.800.948.6262 or 601.948.6262.
