Jackson, Miss. – June 27, 2006 – A “Topping Out” ceremony was held on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 for the new construction of Baptist’s Madison medical facility, now under construction at Highland Colony Parkway and Highway 463.

“Topping Out” is the term used by ironworkers to indicate that the final piece of steel is being hoisted into place on a building or other large structure. It means the project is not completed, but it has reached its maximum height.

Guests had the opportunity to sign their names to a steel I-beam, after which hoisted by crane to the top of the facility. Madison Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler joined Baptist officials for the ceremony.

“We have been working with Madison personnel for the past few years seeking ways Baptist can offer health care services to the people of Madison. Now, we are excited to see the project become reality,” said Baptist Vice President of Business Development Michael Stevens. “We anticipate clinics will move in the first quarter of 2007.”

Baptist’s Madison medical facility will be four stories and is located on a 60-acre plat on the corner Highland Colony Parkway and Hwy 463 in Madison, Miss. It will be approximately 88,000 square foot property and the estimated construction cost is $15 million. The first floor will house Madison Ridgeland Children’s Clinic, Baptist Medical Clinic and a diagnostic imaging center with MRI, CT and X-ray devices. The second floor will house a home health organization called Mississippi Home Care. The third floor will house Baptist Rehabilitation Services, Cardiovascular Associates, P.A., Mississippi Ear, Nose and Throat Surgical Associates and The Ear, Nose and Throat Surgical Group. Jackson Eye Associates will add an additional office on the 4th floor. In the future, Baptist is looking to open an outpatient surgery center and has additional medical office space for leasing.

“Baptist will continue to study and watch the population growth of Madison and look for ways to expand our services to meet the health care needs of this community as they develop,” Stevens added.
