Jackson, Miss. – December 11, 2006 – Baptist for Women, a division of Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Miss., has launched the new podcast series “Women’s Health Inside Out.” The ongoing series will address a variety of women’s health issues. To start, Baptist for Women is providing holiday tips such as avoiding weight gain, holiday stress and exercise during cold weather. The podcasts are available free on the iTunes Music Store or on Baptist’s website at www.mbhs.org/insideout.

“A podcast is like a radio show, but instead of it being broadcast, you listen to it over the Internet. Basically, it’s just an audio file,” said Baptist Public Relations Coordinator Rhonda McRae. “You can listen to each episode on your PC or download them to an MP3 player, such as an iPod.”

For free episodes on the iTunes Music Store, type “Womens Health Inside Out” into the search field on their home page. You can then subscribe to Baptist’s podcast series. Episodes can be heard one at a time, and new episodes will be automatically added to your computer.

“We find more and more people searching for health information via the Internet,” McRae added. “We think podcasting is a great tool to make information from our clinical experts at Baptist available to women wherever they are, whenever they have time to listen. It’s the perfect system because this great content is free of charge to the listener and they choose when they want to hear it.”

Baptist Women’s Health Consultant Terri McCarver, RN, MSN is the host for the podcasts. Routinely, McCarver will be interviewing health care professionals and posting them on Baptist’s website as well as iTunes. Also, on Baptist’s website at www.mbhs.org/insideout people can send McCarver topics they would like for her to address.

This past year Baptist has broadcast several podcasts. For instance, there are podcasts about Baptist’s Chest Pain Accreditation and information about the clinical laboratory profession. Baptist’s Health Foundation recently conducted a podcast regarding the numerous and generous donations people make to the hospital and how their memorial and honor contributions are utilized.
