Baptist Medical Center Physicians Have Prestigious Appointments, Speaking Engagements Jackson, Miss. - June 17, 2003 -- Baptist Medical Center gynecologic oncologist and surgeon Richard C. Boronow, M.D . will join two Mayo Clinic gynecologists as the U.S. speakers in Milan, Italy, September 18-20, 2003, for the Ninth International Joint Meeting on Gynecologic Surgery and Gynecologic Oncology. The meeting is sponsored by the Mayo Clinic and Universita Biomedico Roma. Dr. Boronow is a past president of the U.S. Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the international Society of Pelvic Surgeons. He is a Clinical Professor of Gynecology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Baptist Medical Center radiation oncologist Richard B. Friedman, M.D . recently received a three-year appointment as Cancer Liaison Physician for the hospital Cancer Program at Baptist. The program is an integral part of the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. He is among a national network of over 1,600 national volunteer Cancer Liaison Physicians who provide leadership and support to the CoC Approvals Program and other Commission on Cancer activities. Martin H. McMullan, M.D. with the Cardiovascular Surgical Clinic and chairman of Baptist Health Systems Board of Trustees was inducted into The American Association for Thoracic Surgery in May 2003. Candidates seeking membership in the association must demonstrate a proven track record of distinction in the cardiothoracic field or have made a meritorious contribution to knowledge pertaining to cardiothoracic disease or its surgical treatment. Dr. McMullan was the only physician from Mississippi inducted into the organization during the meeting. |
